June 2013, Volume 28 No. 6 don't whine, kids whine Tough Mudder Chicago 'Don't Whine', with a motto like that you would not expect many participants. However, participate they did, in droves. Chuck Bauman, Mike Hill and Brian Joachimsthaler traveled to the Chicago area in the month of May to take part in a man-made hostile environment otherwise known as a Tough Mudder Challenge. Benefitting The Wounded Warrior Project, the challenge consisted of a 10-12 mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces to test all-around strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie. Several employees from Essex plan to participate in the Tough Mudder St. Louis that will be held September 14-15 in Montgomery City, MO. Participants must be 18 years or older to register. For more information, visit toughmudder.com/events/st-louis-2013 silver beaver Keith Guller Recognized Keith Guller, a long-time contributor to the Scouting program, was awarded the Silver Beaver Award on May 28th. Sidney Guller was onhand to present the award to Keith. The Silver Beaver Award is the highest recognition a Boy Scout council can bestow on an adult volunteer leader. Congratulations, Keith! beaming parents, proud graduates Stephen Brinkmeyer Jim Brinkmeyer, Sustainment Engineer at Chivvis, and his wife Mary are proud to announce that their son Stephen has graduated from Truman State University with a degree in Psychology. Stephen plans to attend UMSL in the fall to pursue a Master's Degree in Counseling. After his education, he plans to become a Campus Minister for a Catholic School. essexindustries.com Hugh Brister Dee Brister, Graphic Designer at Gravois, and her husband Paul, couldn't be more proud of their son Hugh. He is a Pre-K graduate of AmeriKids Christian Center in O'Fallon, MO. Hugh will be starting Kindergarten in the Fort Zummwalt School Distirct in the Fall. Congratulations!!! Caitlyn Clossen Gina Clossen, Cost/Financial Accountant at Gravois, is proud to announce that her daughter Caitlyn is a Cum Laude graduate of Freeburg High School. She plans to attend St. Louis Community College in the Fall and transfer to Rolla to Major in Engineering. Caitlyn is a member of the National Honor Society.
